Downtown Dining Association of South Bend Donates $12,456.29 to Beacon Children’s Hospital Through Summer Restaurant Weeks
South Bend, IN – The Downtown Dining Association (DDA) of South Bend will host a press conference on Tuesday, October 11th at 3:30 pm in the Beacon Children’s Hospital atrium, 615 N. Michigan Street. Restaurant owners will present Jen Tonkovich of Beacon Health System a donation of $12,456.29. The funds were raised during this year’s Summer Restaurant Weeks which ran July 25th – August 7th, 2022. Since the partnership started eight years ago, a total $210,037.77 has been raised by the Downtown Dining Association through restaurant week promotions to support Beacon Children’s Hospital.
“We are very thankful for the Downtown Dining Association and all they do to support children and families right here in Michiana,” says Jen Tonkovich, Director of Women and Children’s Services at Beacon Health System. “We are proud to be part of this community, and are grateful for the generosity of the DDA through both Winter and Summer Restaurant Weeks, and the patrons who come out to dine during those times.”
In attendance will be Mark McDonnell and Peg Dalton with the DDA, Jen Tonkovich and Ryann DeMoss with Beacon Health System and Courtney Kubly with DTSB, Inc.
The DDA of South Bend is a consortium of restaurant owners created to promote the variety of unique and locally-owned dining options in the downtown area. Participating members of the DDA are: Bishop and Bae’s, Café Navarre, Chicory Café, Cinco5, CJ’s Pub, Early Bird Eatery, Fiddler’s Hearth, Howard Park Public House, Ironhand Wine Bar, LaSalle Grill, L Street Kitchen, LaSalle Kitchen & Tavern, Linden Grill, PEGGS, Render, Roselily, Spirited, South Bend Chocolate Café, Sunny Italy, Tippecanoe Place and Studebaker Brewery, The Cellar, Woochi Japanese Fusion & Bar and WXYZ Bar at Aloft Hotel South Bend. Through marketing and special events, the association hopes to increase awareness of the multitude of dining options in downtown and create an invigorated downtown atmosphere.
